    17/01/05

Well, back at work, day to day grind in full swing, but hey! I fixed the Guest Book! Go Me!!

Sadly it really was just a case of reading the instruction properly and taking my time. I don't have a lot of patience for such things and tend to just charge at them like a bull in a china shop, if it doesn't work first time.... well it's broke and I don't have time to fix it.

I had an email enquiry from a chap looking for crash bungs and so realised I hadn't linked to R&G, which I have now added. Been talking to breakers about parts required and learning what bits is called - tis all so complicated these things! Looks like I'm on the right track now so if I could just win the lottery....

On the web side, well yup, you guessed it.... found some free smileys! Also been fiddling with some new effects, not sure which I like yet or which I'll keep... feedback always welcome.

2005... really!? Incredible. Where does it go? - I must be old, only the old go on like that....

Christmas has been a fantastic, much needed break. For one - I've finally done this!! Yay! - resolution - do it more often! It's so peaceful here, it's like the world just goes away when you close the front door.

I've a new addition in the garage, Geep, the GPZ. Read more about him in bikes.

Before the accident I was getting quite good at getting my hands dirty... (with a little help from Mikey from time to time), not only did I manage an oil & filter change, front and rear brake pads, but I replaced my chain as well. I get very nervous working on my own bike - convinced I'll do it wrong and be stuck without my wheels, but it is extremely satisfying knowing I did do these things.

I've got several parts stacked up already to start work on Zed, biggest problem is this...

yep, that broken fitment for the alternator casing. I'm talking to various people who think it can be welded or chemical metal-fixed. I hope so. If it can't it really will be the end of my Zed. As it is, he's more than a write off, it's simply that I cannot bear the thought of not returning with him to the road, or worse still someone else doing it, or, horror of horrors, him being broken down for spares. No way. I can't allow that. So every option has to be looked at. Equally I don't want to just dump a new engine block in there - I like my engine, it runs really well, we are well acquainted now, I don't want to have to learn another.

Yes, I know - stubborn. Possibly stupid even, sentimental, certainly.

We've already been out this year, managed it on New Years Day, which I thought was particularly fitting. Pics are in Rideouts.

Michael has a new toy which is keeping us both busy - a new Cannon SLR Digital camera, with more buttons that I know what to do with and a couple of lenses (wide-angle & zoom). So if you see two bikes stopped, with a chap with a big camera and maybe the tripod - that'll be us!

The run-up to Xmas felt manic, although when I think back now its hard to think what we got up to.

We have yet another addition to the family too! Meet Ethel...

Well, what did you expect!? She's a 17yr old with character! We found her in the newsagents window in Fetcham, near Michaels' place of work, with an asking price of just £100! So we popped straight round and bought her. With 10 months MOT, and everything running, she was just what we were looking for - both with me being off the road and with the nice winter weather we're getting and will continue to get for some time.
