    18/11/06

I say this too often, but really - where does the time go?

Bonfire night we were out bright and early congratulating ourselves on the bright idea we had of missing out on all the crush and traffic of Brockhams' famous bonfire and stopped at the chippy before heading up to the top of Box Hill where we figured we'd get a great view in peace... We should have realised following four other cars up the Zig Zag that it wasn't just us that had a good idea, still it only really hit us when we saw the National Trust vans and people charging for the car parks! By the time the fireworks really got under way it was packed - so much for a quiet night! Still is was a great evening and we got some decent pictures (in spite of the crowds).

The Brat made it through the MOT no trouble which was a relief as I couldn't really afford it to need anything just now. The brake pad was OK although I do have the new one ready - might do it tomorrow as I don't want the pistons hanging out too far to collect the winter muck as I never did get round to having them out over the summer for new seals and cleaning...

Picked up some new waterproofs from J & S for £40. Have kept hold of the receipt just in case although they do seem alright over all, only time will tell. They do have annoying braces built in which I'd like to cut off although the lad at the till wasn't sure if they'd honor the guarantee if I did so I have left them dangling for now. Quite how hacking them off would affect the waterproofness I'm not sure though!

I think I'll be able to put off dragging the handlebar muffs out till next month as although its been a tad nippy now and then it certainly isn't as cold as last year (yet!). Today is the first anniversary of my RoSPA test. It was thick frost that morning and my hands were freezing even in the muffs as I made my way to Reading. I think I've progressed well since that date, continuing to improve rather than sliding backwards - well I hope so anyway.
